We are looking for a hands on/take charge individual who will oversee the leasing responsibility in the Northwest Indiana market. The ideal candidate understands rental management and leasing, and is energetic, engaging, and driven. The ability to communicate well is essential, as this person will frequently be engaging various site and corporate personnel. Public speaking and strong leadership skills are vital.

The Leasing Manager is a hands-on, property level position. This position is responsible for overseeing property leasing and marketing performance, building community relationships, implementing leasing policy & procedures, and meeting all property leasing goals. The Leasing Manager is responsible for building and training a strong leasing team and developing and executing the leasing plan. This position reports to the Property Manager.

The ideal candidate will have superb customer service and interpersonal skills and must be goal-driven, well-organized with strong decision-making skills. Some weekend work is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor team of leasing consultants
  • Provide best in class customer service, and coach team to do the same
  • Set and attain leasing goals in conjunction to property goals
  • Follow up and hold leasing team accountable to their goals
  • Lead weekly leasing team meetings
  • Lead outreach marketing efforts
  • Perform daily and weekly reporting responsibilities
  • Develop a monthly schedule to provide proper coverage for leasing office
  • Conduct monthly market surveys to ensure we are competitive in our pricing
  • Update all websites with updated marketing and pricing details
  • Plan and attend leasing and resident functions
  • Work with leadership on property specific issues, such as, traffic, occupancy, closing ratios and staff
  • Develop and implement strategic leasing plans
  • Develop innovative processes and procedures, utilizing the best technology available in both the fields of property management and leasing
  • Work cooperatively with other departments as needed to ensure peak operational performance of the entire portfolio
  • Assist in the recruitment and hiring of the most qualified available new employees
  • Assist with other duties / special projects as requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in leasing / sales; multi-family or real estate experience required
  • Previous leadership / supervisory experience is preferred
  • Strong background in sales, marketing or as a property manager would be beneficial
  • Previous experience with property management software is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work effectively on multiple tasks in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation and presentation skills are necessary
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
  • Weekend Availability required – typically work 1-2 Saturdays each month

Physical Requirements:

  • Generally an office/desk environment; using a computer and phone
  • Lift and carry up to 20 pounds;
  • Alternate sitting / standing; keyboarding
  • Bend/stoop, climb stairs, walking consistently during shift
  • Has normal range of vision, hearing and speech
